The example of botnet based on Google Android has been demonstrated in New York

Within the past last weekend in New York hacker conference SummerCon, an expert on computer security Oberhaid John  showed how easy it is to distribute the software to create a botnet for a lot of phones based on the platform of Google Android.

One of key ideas which are shown by Oberhaid, consists in perversity of the concept of absolute confidence to the applications received through Android App Market. As an example it has laid out there harmless by sight the application which, however, periodically accesses on special a server, requesting upgrades of the code. In the presence of such upgrades, they are automatically downloaded and started. Thus, the presented program (the author names it «RootStrap») is high-grade “Trojan horse”.

Google Street View Cars spied around the world

The issue with illegal WiFi-sniffer, installed in car Google Street View in Germany, continues to be untwisted and accepts the menacing scale.

Yesterday the governor of the State of Connecticut has declared that the authorities have started official investigation upon illegal collection of WiFi-given by cars Street View. Moreover, by word the governor, similar investigations have started more than in 30 (!) states of America. Even earlier the consequence beginning on the same affairs was declared by a number of the European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Czech.

On May, 15th company Google has officially admitted the fact of collection of the traffic in Germany and has apologized for this programmer error, dated 2006. Because of a technical glitch cars registered not only MAC-addresses and SSID-identifiers of networks, but also casually wrote the private traffic which passed through open WiFi-networks. Eric Schmidt has told that fault to all one programmer.
